This is a tribute to a woman with a heart of gold, a beautiful soul and an impeccable character. Beautiful inward and outward; a special breed indeed a specie people of my calling would type as sui generis. I confess that I was attracted by her good character to search for a soul mate, nay my missing rib in her family and I wasn’t disappointed.
I am talking about Rotn Chief (Mrs) Monica Chinwe Nwokoro, Adadioranma ndi Izuogu, Omaru Obidiya nde Amaediaba Nkpa, Ezigbo Ogonwayi Nde Amaedukwu Nkpa. Her husband Dr. C. A. Nwokoro (deceased) used to call her Monique, Her siblings called her Adakwesiri. I joined her siblings to call her Adakwesiri, nnye Yee.
Late Mrs. Monica Nwokoro, kept her nuclear and extended family bonded together by being the bridge builder that connected all the joints and gave her all, and her best to her husband, her lovely sons and daughters, her parents, relations far and near, and everybody around her. I called her a chief planner because her brain worked like a computer and seemed to be at work 24/7 planning for everybody around her. A woman so hyperactive and for whom there could be no dull moment, so selfless, bubbled with life and full of ideas. She touched so many lives as a silent philanthropist wherever she went, particularly the needy and underprivileged in society.
Needless to say that the sad news of her passing on to glory hit me like a thunderbolt and left me totally confused for upwards of ten minutes. It has never been the same with me since then. I was at my doorstep with the key to my door about to open the door on the fateful day when my phone rang. It was one of her daughters calling around 8 pm. “Uncle where are you, are you at home?” I said yes because I was at the door but outside the house. I asked was anything the matter? And the caller responded “I am afraid Uncle, it’s not good at all” then the sad news followed.
The painful exit is the way of all flesh. The way of every mortal being including my reader and I. That being the case I cannot do better than to say, may her beautiful soul find eternal repose in God’s bossom and may all her loved ones including her children her aged mother, her siblings, other relatives the Nwokoro family far and near, her numerous friends find the grace and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss!
